Ink Technician - Packaging

Location: Castleford

Salary: DOE

Company: A leading packaging and labels manufacturer.

Role: Our client is looking to recruit an Ink Technician to join their team in Castleford.

This role plays a key part in supporting production by ensuring press-ready inks are accurately matched, prepared and supplied to specification.

The successful candidate must have the ability proven by experience to match and formulate colours in offset, screen and flexo ink systems in order to supply press ready products to production.

* Review the plan to ensure requirements are met by allocating inks to press.

* Match various colour shades in offset, flexo and silk screen ink systems, using proofing equipment. Check colours using Xrite colour matching system.

* Raise Ink sheets & maintain records of formula’s using the Ink Management system, liaise with suppliers

* Supply press-ready inks to production in line with job requirements and schedules

* Check upcoming production requirements and prioritise ink preparation accordingly

* Use proofing equipment and colour matching systems to ensure accuracy

* Prepare inks by mixing colour formulas or sourcing from existing stock, using “use-away” inks wherever possible

* Allocate and deliver prepared inks to the relevant press areas in a timely manner

* Record and update any ink formula adjustments during production

* Collect and retain wet ink samples for quality and customer standards

* Liaise with external suppliers and customers when required

Requirements:

* Colour / Ink experience - Experience in colour matching or ink formulation (printing environment preferred)

* Experience within print, packaging and/or labels

* X-rite equipment trained

* Knowledge of offset, flexo or screen printing inks

* Experience using colour matching systems

* Strong attention to detail and colour accuracy

* Ability to work independently and within a small team

* Good communication and organisational skills

* Demonstrable knowledge of working with Print Colours

* Good understanding of continuous improvement techniques, e.g. lean & 5S

* Exposure to quality, health, safety and environmental standards and practices within a production setting

* Colour matching experience
