🎯 Role Overview

This is a senior operational leadership role with full accountability for umbrella payroll operations, compliance, and governance. The role ensures the business operates in line with FCSA requirements, HMRC guidance, and UK employment law, while building a scalable, audit-ready operating model to support sustainable growth.

📊 Key Responsibilities

Own and oversee end-to-end umbrella payroll operations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance

*

Ensure full adherence to FCSA Codes of Compliance, HMRC legislation, and UK employment law

*

Act as the final escalation point for complex payroll and contractor queries

*

Maintain audit-ready processes, controls, and documentation

*

Lead, develop, and scale the umbrella payroll operations team

*

Own payroll systems governance, data integrity, and GDPR compliance

*

Drive process improvement, automation, and scalability

*

Partner with senior stakeholders to support compliant business growth

🧠 Skills & Experience

Essential

*

Senior-level experience within umbrella or contractor payroll operations

*

Strong knowledge of FCSA compliance and HMRC payroll legislation

*

Experience operating in audit-led, regulated environments

*

Proven payroll team leadership and governance experience

*

Strong systems and process control background

Desirable

*

Direct experience supporting or leading FCSA audits

*

Experience scaling umbrella operations

*

CIPP (or equivalent) qualification
