Embedded Software V&V Engineer

JOB LOCATION: Stevenage / Bristol

SECURITY CLEARANCE: SC Start

DURATION: 6+ Months Minimum (Extension Possible)

WORK PATTERN: Full time on site (occasional work from home day)

RATE: £ 65 - £ 70 Per hr on Umbrella (Inside IR35)

TARGET INDUSTRIES AND COMPANIES. Is Defence a must?

If not what industries can be considered

Preferable for Def/Aero, but can be open to other industries (heavily regulated; medical, automotive, nuclear etc.)

Overview of Department:

* The UK Embedded Software department is at the core of MBDA's weapon systems.

* We create the complex, highly reliable real-time software that powers our missile systems and their components, ensuring that they provide the performance and functionality our users require when they need it.

* We are involved all the way through development – from concept studies through trials firings and the move into production and service.

Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for the verification and validation activities on real-time systems application software for the next generation of Missile Systems.

The role requires taking requirements, developing them into robust test cases, preparing and executing tests, capturing data, and delivering actionable feedback to project teams.

You will have to draw upon your strong practical problem-solving skills, data acquisition expertise, and adaptability.

Skillset/experience required:

Essential

• Strong experience of V&V activities in an embedded software environment.

• Strong problem-solving skills

• Ability to work independently or as part of a team

• Good communication skills

• Good documentation skills

• Ability to turn requirements into structured test cases and procedures.

• Experience of working in a lab environment on an electro mechanical product running embedded software.

• Good working knowledge of the complete software engineering lifecycle.

• Scripting abilities

• Embedded software development experience using Ada and/or C/C++.

Advantageous:

• Safety critical systems experience

• Knowledge of standards such as DefStan 00-55, DO-178C & DO-330

• Knowledge of Real Time Operating Systems

• Model Driven Design experience

• Knowledge of test automation methods

• Knowledge of DOORS, Engineering Workflow Management (EWM), Rapita Suite, Rhapsody, LDRA

• Breakpoint Analysis experience

• Experience of Focused Code Reviews
