Duties
*
Manage project schedules, including critical path activities, dependencies, programme interfaces (between projects, operations, frameworks) and align with AMP8 milestones and deliverables.
*
Control project budget and costs: forecasting, monitoring actual v budget, managing change/control, capturing cost efficiencies and optimisation opportunities aligned with AMP8 cost‑efficiency requirements.
*
Ensure compliance with relevant framework contract forms (e.g., NEC3/4, JCT, bespoke water‑industry frameworks), CDM regulations, health & safety, environment and quality standards.
*
Embed AMP8 priorities into project delivery: e.g., reducing carbon/embodied emissions, implementing digital solutions (IoT, digital twin, monitoring), nature‑based solutions, resilience enhancements, leakage reduction and storm overflow control.
*
Manage multidisciplinary project teams and supply‑chain partners: designers, engineers, contractors, operations, regulator, local authorities, landowners, and affected communities.
*
Liaise with procurement/framework management teams to ensure alignment with framework strategies for AMP8 (longer term frameworks, collaborative contracting, value‑driven delivery). For example, many companies are appointing long‑term partners to deliver AMP8.
*
Maintain rigorous governance and reporting: develop and present project dashboards, highlight risk/opportunity registers, issue reports to Steering Groups and senior management (both internal and client).
*
Promote and deliver sustainability outcomes: net‑zero ambition, biodiversity/net‑gain, circular economy, digitalisation and asset resilience.
*
Deliver project hand‑over ensuring operations/maintenance readiness, documentation (O&M manuals, asset registers, handover packs), post‑project review, lessons learned and continuous improvement.
*
Ensure customer, regulatory and environmental outcomes are met: as defined in the AMP8 business plan (e.g., leakage reduction, pollution control, network resilience).
Requirements
*
Proven project management within the water industry (clean water / wastewater / network / treatment) across full lifecycle.
*
Experience delivering infrastructure projects in a regulated environment and aware of AMP style capital delivery cycles.
*
Strong project controls skills: scheduling (MS Project, Primavera or comparable), cost control, change management, risk/opportunity management.
*
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills (written & verbal).
*
Familiarity with framework contractual models, collaborative delivery and long‑term partnering arrangements.
*
Ability to manage multiple interfaces: operations, maintenance, design, procurement, supply‑chain, regulator.
*
Valid UK driving licence and willing to travel to sites across South East region
