Senior Electronics Engineer

Harlow, on site full time

12-month contract – Inside IR35

SC needed (ideal but can start on BPSS)

The role

Our client is looking for an experienced and high performing contract Electronics Engineer to join a successful Assured Position, Navigation and Timing (APNT) team within the Global Sensors Mission Area, creating Digital GPS Anti-Jam Systems for the military market.

Skills and experience

* Experience creating top level Design architectures

* Experience testing and verifying requirements

* Experience in working with DSP, Micro, Memory devices, ADCs, DACs, Power supply

* Experience working with FPGAs and SoC technologies

* Ability to understand VHDL code

* Able to present technical information clearly and concisely to others

* An openness to learn and try new techniques

* Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment - working independently or with others to overcome obstacles

* Capable of analysing and reporting on technical data

* Eligible or holder of current SC security clearance

Desirable:

* Experience using the Vivado and Vitis design tools, or equivalent

* Experience working with the Xilinx chip family

* Experience delivering embedded firmware as part of a product

* Knowledge of Embedded C

* Experience creating embedded system architectures

* Familiarity with the application of a systems engineering approach across the design and development lifecycle

* Knowledge of defence engineering / airborne standards

* Working with Model Based System Engineering tools such as Matlab/Simulink

Responsibilities

The successful applicant will support the APNT Team across various programmes (both internally and Customer funded) and will involve the following main duties within the product development:

* Develop requirements to ensure compliance to the relevant standards.

* Create and manage architectures for Digital Electronics and firmware (mainly FPGAs)

* Understand, decompose and verify Design requirements

* Create FPGA design using VHDL and embedded C

* Define and perform unit level and sub system level testing for embedded firmware

* Create design documents (HW +Firmware)

* Create Test Documents

* Create Firmware Simulation Test Reports

* Create Timing and Power Analysis Reports

* Work alongside our embedded system, software and other electronic design engineers

* Perform technical reviews of the documents and release
