Salary: £29,000 - £42,000 per annum, depending on experience
Our client, a leading ecological consultancy, is seeking a passionate and experienced Ornithologist to join their team in Derby. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-quality ecological surveys and projects across a variety of habitats.
Key Responsibilities:
Conducting bird surveys and monitoring, including breeding, wintering, and migratory species.
Preparing detailed survey reports and providing expert advice to support planning and development projects.
Contributing to ecological assessments, including Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and Habitat Management Plans.
Advising clients on bird mitigation strategies in line with UK wildlife legislation.
Requirements:
Proven experience in ornithological fieldwork and survey techniques.
Strong knowledge of UK bird species, ecology, and conservation legislation.
Experience producing professional reports for clients and statutory authorities.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Relevant qualifications in ecology, environmental science, or related fields.
Desirable:
Membership of professional bodies (e.g., CIEEM, BTO).
Experience with GIS mapping and data analysis.
