Job Title: HV AP & Commissioning Supervisor – Solar PV & BESS
Location: Home-based (extensive UK travel required)
Salary: £55,000–£65,000 per annum (dependent on experience) + KPI Bonus + Benefits
Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Overview:
UnifyHQ is recruiting on behalf of our client for an HV AP & Commissioning Supervisor to support the delivery and commissioning of utility-scale solar PV and battery energy storage projects across the UK. This role reports to the Head of Engineering and plays a key part in ensuring safe, compliant, and high-quality commissioning activities across multiple sites.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform HV operations on solar PV and BESS assets

Supervise on-site commissioning activities

Develop and maintain commissioning procedures and protocols

Monitor subcontractor compliance with RAMS, ITPs, scopes of work and safety documentation

Ensure commissioning tasks are completed by competent, certified personnel

Provide feedback on Electrical Safety Rules and commissioning processes

Liaise with ICPs, DNOs, subcontractors and internal teams

Support transition from construction to operations and maintenance

Provide regional leadership to O&M field engineers and electricians

Mentor trainee engineers and authorised personnel

Maintain communication with the Authorising Engineer

Coordinate with performance teams to optimise system outputs

Schedule and execute HV switching operations for project handover

Train site personnel in routine maintenance and audit completed works

Review field reports and ensure resolution of issues

Use reporting and software tools to manage commissioning progress

Candidate Requirements:

* NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent (City & Guilds or EAL)

* HV AP15 or equivalent certification

* 4–5 years’ experience in HV operations within renewables or utilities

* Experience with HV switching and commissioning of electro-mechanical systems

* Strong understanding of inspection, testing and commissioning standards

* Excellent attention to detail and safety awareness

* Proficient in Microsoft Office and reporting tools

* Strong written and verbal communication skills

* Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain a safety-first culture

* Willingness to travel extensively across the UK

Desirable:

* Inspection & Testing certification (e.g. C&G 2391)

* Experience as a Qualified Supervisor with a recognised industry body

* OEM or service partner training on key components

* Experience interpreting test schedules and resolving commissioning issues

Benefits:

* Basic salary £55,000–£65,000 (dependent on experience)

* Discretionary KPI bonus up to 12.5%
